What is the purpose of, and difference between the Pear Beauty Blender and the Teardrop Beauty Blender?
A beauty blender is a sponge that allows cream or liquid products to be applied evenly and conveniently on face. The tip of the beauty blenders, allow easy application of concealer to small and narrow areas, like under-eye bags, blemishes and areas around the nose. The base of a beauty blender allows large scale makeup, like foundation and blush, to be applied.
The difference between the Pear Beauty Blender and the Teardrop Beauty Blender is there is a curve in the former. I personally prefer the Pear Beauty Blender as the curve allows easier application of makeup around the nose area, though it can also be accessed by the tip of the beauty blender.

Why do different brushes and brush sets have different types of bristles?
There are two kinds of bristles: animal fur and man-made synthetic fibre. Animal fur bristles are inclusive of pony hair, horse fur, goat fur, persian wool, and more. They are all equally as brilliant and soft to the touch.
Brushes with animal fur bristles are better for applying powder makeup as they can hold onto powdered color pigments much better than synthetic fibre. Nevertheless, brushes with animal fur may have some stray bristles and may shed a little. Sometimes, there may still be a little smell.
Brushes with synthetic fibre is more applicable for applying cream or liquid makeup products, as it does not hold onto powder well. The bristles do not shed easily, and has no smell. Bristles tend to be harder, stiffer, neater and tidier than animal fur.
I personally own a 24 Pieces Makeup Brush Set which has brushes of both animal fur and synthetic fibre bristles. All brushes are fantastic, and neither of any did shed (even during cleaning) ever during my few months of usage. I did not detect any bad smell as well during the first time I opened and used it.
